Dental Crowns and Dental Bridges | Oregon City Dentist

Do you have a tooth that is severely decayed? Have you had a recent root canal performed on one of your teeth? Are you missing a single tooth or a series of teeth in your mouth? If so, Pioneer Dental Group has a solution for you.

We proudly offer both dental crowns and dental bridges to help you improve the look of your smile and protect your teeth at the same time. Dental crowns are common restorations and are used to help provide a protective barrier for your teeth. Each one will stop more decay or other damage from happening. A crown covers the entire visible portion of your tooth and is bonded to it for a long-term solution.

When a Dental Crown is Needed

Dental crowns are typically needed when your tooth has been broken or has severe decay. If you think you need a crown, you will need to speak with Dr. Pioch first so he can assess whether a crown is the right treatment for you.

Crowns are often relied on after a root canal procedure is performed. The crown will be set over top of the tooth after the root and pulp are removed. This will ensure the remaining tooth structure suffers no more damage or infection.

Types of Crowns Offered in Our Office

We offer porcelain crowns for maximum aesthetics, as well as crowns made of zirconium and precious metals, including gold and white gold. Metal crowns can provide more support for your molars, which receive a lot more pressure from chewing than your other teeth do. You will be able to choose the type of crown you want, depending on your situation, preferences, and budget. All the custom crowns offered in our office are created by a local dental lab so that you receive the dental care you need quickly.

Inlays and Onlays

If your damage isn’t severe enough for a crown, or if you need to replace an old filling, you may benefit from inlays or onlays. Inlays are bonded to the area within the pointed cusps of your molars, while onlays can also cover the cusps and extend beyond that. These composite restorations can be made to match your teeth so that no one will notice them in your smile.

Get a Dental Bridge for Your Missing Teeth

If you are missing one tooth or a series of teeth in your mouth, a dental bridge is a great tooth-replacement option. Sometimes, it is not possible to save your teeth, and you must have them removed to prevent more damage to surrounding teeth or gums. In these instances, a dental bridge may be suggested to you.

A dental bridge consists of a series of connected crowns that “bridge the gap” in your mouth and provide you with a beautiful, natural-looking smile. The bridge is anchored in place by attaching at least two of the crowns to the teeth surrounding the gap. These two supporting teeth must be reduced in order for the crowns to fit on top.

Pioneer Dental Group also offers implant-supported bridges, which anchors the bridge to implants instead of your teeth.
